The John Locher Memorial Fellowship

The John Locher Memorial Fellowship is an honor for early-career cartoonists whose work demonstrates both clear opinions and strong artistry on political and social topics. The Locher Fellow will be a guest of the CXC Festival, held every fall in September or October, and will receive a one-year Regular membership in the AAEC. They will also have the opportunity to meet with AAEC cartoonists during the year of the Fellowship for portfolio reviews and career advice.

Nominations are accepted for consideration on a rolling basis through this form.

The AAEC/John Locher Memorial Award was founded in 1986 by members of the American Association of Editorial Cartoonists (AAEC). They felt the need to establish an award that would not only honor the memory of John Locher but also would help discover young cartoonists and stimulate interest in editorial cartooning among college-age students in North America.
